Hey,
I have a suggestion, that I think would work really well with this project, and would be relatively straightforward to implement.
The idea is to turn into its own text-based user environment. As cool retro term already has the interface, if the project were to add qtwayland and wayland compositor support. The project could easily transform itself into a separate desktop environment on Wayland.

Wayland compositor support would be great!
Then it could run on the likes of CAGE (https://github.com/Hjdskes/cage) and we would have a great-looking fullscreen console!
