Thank you sir!!! (im on my way to china for business.. when i back i check it sorry and thank you!)
I had a quick try on my ubuntu 18.04 beta and still have this error:

E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/bugs-launchpad-net-falkensweb/cool-retro-term/ubuntu bionic Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

Since im traveling AND the full version of ubuntu 18.04 will be released in 6 days i think we better wait for at least a week. I will let you know how it is going on this (my) system and on a few systems i running in china for how its going.

Thank you so much for your time.... take care man!

  1. This (Vantuz) ppa is for 17.10 and 18.04, and this (Tom Chiverton) is for older releases. Could you check if you are using correct ppa?
  2. Please donate to original author if you really want to. I don't write any code for this project currently, I just maintain a ppa, mostly for my own needs. I use Ubuntu 17.10 and making package availaible for 18.04 took me about ~3 mouse clicks, so it was no trouble at all. But thanks anyway!

Original issue seems to be resolved.

I'm running 18.04.2 and I just installed cool-retro-term 1.1.1 via "Software" app, it was found in the Snap Store.

here were the packages I needed to install on 18.04.4 LTS before I could build and execute:

apt install build-essentials qt5-default qtdeclarative5-dev \
 qt5-qmake qml-module-qtquick-controls qml-module-qtquick-localstorage \
 qml-module-qtquick-dialogs
