Nice idea is blinking (shifting, phasing, fading) caret.
Something like animating opacity from 100% to 0% and backwards.

It would improve experience.

What do you think about it?

I second this as I think it would look great. Till now I thought it needed no improvement.

I suppose it's really easy to implement, and it will look great.
I've taken idea from Sublime Text "phase caret", which works as I described.
