cool-retro-term takes about 1s to start on a Lenovo x200s laptop running arch. I would use it by default if it was snappier (but still thanks for making the nice thing).

Hi @andres-erbsen, much work has already been done with respect to this (such as bundling the resources into the executable), but I agree that we still have margin for improvement. The best way to proceed would probably be to wrap some controls in asynchronous loaders.
