I compiled cool-retro-term on Ubuntu 14.04 (32-bit) on my ThinkPad X60s and it is extremely laggy. It becomes unresponsive and it takes long for it to respond. Making any keystroke has about a minute of delay to it. It's not completely frozen though (though it often does appear to be).
Not sure if this is a graphics issue. The laptop does have an integrated Intel card but it shouldn't be struggling with something as light as this.

Did you try disabling some of the effects (bloom and motion blur are the heaviest), reducing the fps (to a value like 24-30)?
If you can't access the settings because of the sluggishness, I'm planning to add in the short future a way to run the application in low graphics mode (performance optimizations enabled and effects disabled).
I was able to get into the settings menu. After doing some testing it seems that Horizontal Flickering, Jitter, and Bloom are causing me the most issues. As soon as I enable bloom (even if everything else is disabled) it starts freezing up. Horizontal flickering doesn't do much on its own but if I have other settings enabled it causes a pretty big performance hit. Jitter also seems to drop my fps even when it's the only thing enabled. I can safely enable all but those three effects and get good performance. Disabling reflections also improves the performance quite a lot, and texture quality doesn't seem to affect it much at all.
Hi @joonoro , in the last few days I've been working really hard on fixes and performance improvements. Could you please give this another go and let me know if this improves the experience on your machine?
